Direction Direction Direction.

04 Feb 2010

Yo,

If you've heard alot of our stuff, you would of probably made the observation that we jump around genres alot, its never been intentional though, its kind of just how we've functioned, exploring every avenue trying to get our own sound. But after years of writing in different styles on different instruments in all different ways, we have finally started to get our own sound.

It has taken a long time, but it feels liberating to finally have direction. It's a bit of a heavier and stripped back sound, and has a big focus on vocal harmonies. All 3 of us are singing now.

So in light of this discovery we are getting ready to record a new EP, we've been rehearsing, demoing and writing like crazy and it's starting to cement itself into something cool.

Heres some pictures of us rehearsing/demoing, sweaty timez!

So keep your eyes and ears peeled cause we'll be documenting our progress and posting it up here.

Grande!

thankyou for listening, <3 x thr

ESPY!!!

06 Dec 2009

Yo,
We played the Espy on Saturday night, it was a full room and it felt amazing. We played with Dead River Deeps, Sacha Ion & The Voodoo Economic and Crystal Thomas.
We missed Crystal Thomas, but we saw Dead River Deeps and Sacha Ion. Sacha Ion were rad. Dead River Deeps were killer as well, it was kinda like old school blues very riffy, fantastic guitar sounds as well, sounded pretty huge.
Great crowd too, Melbourne's nightlife is absolutely incredible it seemed like it never stops.
We played a cover of Prince's Purple Rain it was epic to hear people singing along. It felt fantastic to play to a full room.
The street art here is awesome as well, you can look at a wall, and see like a cartoon severed head devouring several clones of itself, or like some kind of awesome cartoonish ghoul doing something strange, either way its wicked, much better than just plain concrete, its like the walls are alive here.
Its a bit depressing though because its our last night here until NYE anyway, now were heading back to Sydney for 4 days then we head off for the QLD leg. First gig is at The Zoo on the 11th in Brisbane, The Neverland Bar on the Gold Coast on the 12th then Byron Bay at The Great Northern on the 13th. That's all for now. I look heaps forward to seeing more of Melbourne.
keep good, :)x

THE CORNER

06 Dec 2009

Last night was good, we played at The Corner in Melbourne. Some highlights of the day included:

-Tom R's comparison of the Oporto Strips and Chips meal to its Nando's equivalent. Consensus was reached that Oporto produces 'sweeter' chicken breast flavours, whilst Nando's culinary produce was described as 'more spicy', 'mature' and 'yum'. Chip seasoning was also discussed.
-Great sound, stage, and crowd at the Corner. We felt great after a slightly awkward gig in Geelong last night.
-My energetic spell following a strong cappucino this afternoon. It was embarassing. Whilst no-one was adversely affected, I'd take this opportunity to point out to the population of Melbourne that scat singing and star jumps on footpaths are not usual activities of mine.
-Ongoing profundity from Tom M. Seriously, that guy knows a bagful of facts about lions, fierce snakes and their movement, and is a specialist in voice imitation. If you ever want to spice up a car trip get yourself a Tom M.

The gig was great tonight ! My cousin even came! Unfortunately we couldnt stay for Howling Bells since Tom M is only 17 so we still have to get kicked out straight after we play, but we caught their soundcheck and they're superb!

Esplanade Hotel tomorrow. Should be great! We're on very late at like 11:45 pm but someone told us that that is quite early for a band in Melbourne. Its the city that never sleeps. I dont dig it. I think it's the city that sometimes sleeps.

Hope youre all well and that if youve just found yourself on holidays or finished work for the year that you're having yourself some fun. thanks for reading!

Citizen#1

13 Nov 2009

So - we're recording a film clip for 'Citizen #1' tonight. It's going to be outdoors and at night, slightly worried about these grey clouds this mornin'..
BUT!
The weatherman tells us there's nothing to worry about.
"Chance of a morning shower or two, then fine afternoon with increasing sunny periods. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds."
I'm personally looking forward to these 'fresh' south to south easterly winds. Does anyone know what that means? It would seem to be a measure of wind speed since they say "moderate to fresh"... either way they seem tasty...
